Basketball New Brunswick will host the 2012 under-15 and under-17 girls' national championships at the Richard Currie Center on the campus of the University of New Brunswick.

 The event will be held Aug. 5 to 12 next summer.

 This is a tremendous opportunity for BNB, UNB and the City of Fredericton to showcase the province and host the top 15 and 17 year old female basketball players from across the country.

 UNB has a strong recent history of hosting successful CIS National Championships in basketball, volleyball and hockey and the addition of the Currie Center makes for a very attractive venue.

BNB previously hosted the girls event at the UNB Aitkin Centre in 2002 with the BNB U15 girls team capturing the silver medal.

The 2012 boys event will take place in Sherbrooke, Quebec and be used as a test event in preparation for the 2013 Canada Games.
